The north and south nodes show up in astrology and in human design.
Each year or so the position shifts into another sign, and a whole lot of people are born under a particular north node.
The north node and south node are not planets, but mathematical points that fall in opposing signs.
My north node is in Gemini, so my south node is in the exact opposite sign of Sagittarius.
The nodes are karmic and they represent where you have been (the south node) and where you are headed (the north node).
The south node is comfortable, but not fulfilling. You need to head towards the north node, which is your life purpose. When you fear to do something that you know will be good for you, this is often your north node calling.
For me, and all those born at a similar time to me, the Gemini-Sagittarius axis is all about communication and learning. The challenge in my north node is to learn to express myself and spread my message through teaching, learning and writing.
Sagittarius is also about gathering and spreading knowledge, but more from a pontification. Whereas Gemini knows and understand the audience and speaks to them.
To embrace my north node, I must:
- talk things out
- philosophise
- delve deeply into subjects I love
- embrace communication with others
- form partnerships
- have focused action and attention, and
- honest self-expression
The archetype is the messenger: teacher, storyteller, intellectual and eternal youth.
