I read a funny-angry article in Women’s Agenda this week, about being a woman and being sick of being told that we’re doing everything wrong! https://womensagenda.com.au/life/jugglehood/im-sick-told-im-wrong/
I related strongly.
I’m sick of being told that I’m doing everything wrong, and that I should be doing this or that. I should be meditating; I should be exercising – but this kind of exercise, not that kind of exercise; I should be having children; I shouldn’t be eating sugar; I should use essential oils; I shouldn’t wash my hair every day; I should … I should … I should …
Women are the worst for doing this ‘shoulding’ to themselves, and to other women. We are highly critical of each other, when we really have no right to judge how someone else lives or dresses or eats or raises their children (or whether they choose to have children or not).
Let’s support each other as women, and be kinder. Let’s have in mind that everyone is doing their best, and we all have our own problems and lots to do. We are not all the same, and the world would be a pretty boring place if we were.
After reading that blog post, I then listened to Dr Jen Riday’s Vibrant Happy Women podcast, along a similar theme: https://www.jenriday.com/podcast/ How to Be Authentic (And Help Other Women Do the Same).
This topic has been a strong theme in my life this week, so I’m helping them message get out to all of you as well.
